Estimating the amount of tissue to be resected is a crucial part of successful body lift surgeries, including abdominoplasty. Based on D'Assumpção and Pitanguy flap demarcators, a new marking clamp is designed to accommodate the positioning angles and large tissue resections of modern body lift designs. Features and Benefits The Lockwood marking clamp is angled at the hinge to fit the body's angle during both abdominal and thigh lifting. The trunk/thigh angle of 30-40° produces an appropriate degree of overcorrection in both supine and lateral decubitus positions. The angled hinge of the Lockwood clamp is easier to use in the overcorrected positions. In addition, the arms of the marking clamp are longer and farther apart to allow for larger and thicker flap resections. This reduces the need to "split the flap" first when using shorter arm marking clamps.
